| Oustanding and memorable Experience for my family! |

| This hamam was highly recommended by a couple at our hotel, and then when we saw the great reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to give it a try, especially given that we were looking for a family friendly experience (we have an 8 yr old boy and 16 yr old girl). Our previous visits to Turkish hamams (many a year ago) had been a bit "sketchy" - and had been spoiled by the aggressiveness around tipping. The Suleymaniye was such a totally different, and positive, experience. From the door to door service from your hotel (both ways) and the beautiful 500 year old, spotlessly clean building, to the owner who obviously cares about creating a memorable experience for those who visit with absolutely no pressures at all regarding tipping (note: it's cash only, if you forget there is an ATM nearby) . The soaping up and massages are given by men (which initially put me off) but they did a thoughtful and thorough job (don't be scared by the noises they make during the scrubbing, which sounds like "slapping" but itsn't). However, what really made our experience truly memorable was the owner's thougtfulness. I casually mentioned when we walked in that it was my 16 year old daugher's birthday. To my amazement, the owner (Ayhan) went out and bought a delicious birthday cake, complete with candles, while we were inside the hamam, and then surprised my daughter with it when we came out. The fact that he refused payment for the cake or even a tip (!) even further impressed us. Apparently he has gone to hotel management school in the US, and is applying what he learned about exceeding client expectations. He certainly exceeded ours! All in all....a wonderful expereince for my entire family. |
